Walks

One of our York u3a members, Richard Taylor, has been running a series of free walks based on historical times or events in the life of York. These walks are open to all members.

For individuals’ safety and to ensure everyone is able to hear the guide’s narration, numbers will be limited to 12. To register email Richard.

Siege (1644) – June 2023

Assembly:   (Part One)  outside King’s Manor, adjacent to York Art Galley.

(Part Two) St Mary’s Tower, corner of Bootham and Marygate

Warning: Each part is approximately 75 minutes and is routed along the city walls, involving steep steps.

Harrying of the North (1069)  – July 2023

Victorian Scandals – October 2023

Mondays 2nd, 9th, 16th 

Start: 1.30pm

Assembly: The Post Office Club, Marygate. 

Duration: 90 minutes. 

 Warning: Part of the route involves the city walls and steep steps.
