Our activities consist of interest groups, talks and travel allowing members to explore new ideas, skills and activities together. With around 1,500 members we are one of the largest u3as in the country.
Members have a desire to learn and a willingness to share their skills and enthusiasm, once no longer in full time employment.
Our interest groups range from physical activities such as walking, water fitness and table tennis, practical activities such as sketching and photography, various music-related groups and some more traditional subjects such as languages. There are several groups that take advantage of the varied history of York.
We are always on the lookout for ideas for new groups and enthusiastic members to get new things started.
There are monthly talks and travel options local and further afield.
York u3a is a registered charity (number 1007843) and the officers, committee members and group leaders are all members, volunteering their time. The National u3a provides us with insurance, legal advice, subject advice and an extensive information centre for both individuals and groups.
